In Japan, this knife style is known as a Gyuto. It is the Japanese equivalent of the chef's knife. In other words, it is an all-purpose knife, ideal for meat, fish, and performs beautifully on vegetables, too. Although the blade profile is narrower than the traditional chef's knife, it still offers plenty of knuckle clearance when cutting on a board.     I can’t believe there are no reviews for this knife. Bought mine years ago at Williams Sonoma and it is the queen of the knife drawer. A beautifully thin blade and very comfortable to use. Will always be my favorite. And of course very sharp. I have good stones.
